Le Fou

Ceramics is such a hard class. I have all these ideas, but when I try to make them, they turn into deformed lumps! My attempt at makin' some tiles with cabbage imprints:
This weekend I finally got around to watching my netflix. Pierrot Le Fou was the strangest movie I have seen in a while. It stars Jean-Paul Belmondo and Anna Karina. Her clothes in teh movie are so wonderful! While most of the movie was filled with poetic, artsy clips and dialogue, I found myself cracking up at an incredibly offensive depiction of an american and vietnamese girl. The best part being the only english words Ferdinand knows are "Yeaaahh......" and "Newa Yorkkkkk", "Hollaywoooood", "communist", "yeahhhhh".

Red Cabbage Stinks!

My sad, failed attempt at naturally dyeing yarn with red cabbage I grew in the garden this summer. Minus being a haven for spiders the cabbage grew quite well and produced an awesome dye. I have no idea where I went wrong! Maybe with the mordent. What was suppose to be a mild blue-green, came out as a light lilac depending on when I look at it. At other times it appears to look like I just got the undyed yarn sort of dirty, turning it gray.  This project also took me about 2 full days of boiling TONS of water and waiting.
But in no way am I deterred from attempting dyeing again. The next time I hope to use onion skins for a bright yellow, or tea for brown.

books

Yesterday I order two new sculpture books that I cannot wait to get. I was looking at one in a book store and it had some really cool and weird dolls in it and I hope the other book has some awesome clay sculptures that will help me come up with something good to do for the next 20 hour project.

bad day

I'll go knit in my room to think about something else other than my lonely perverted parents. My sweater is really coming along, even though I think it might be a little small. So many bobbles! I am also waiting for more yarn to finish my other sweater, and get some awesome knitting books. The Sweater Workshop and Natural Dying. Hopefully this summer I will be able to plant some stuff that I can use to dye yarn in my grandma's garden!

Photosynthesis

To My Dearest Light Reaction,
My once meaningful life has lost purpose when I lost you. Please take me back, my love. These pass few weeks have been so painful and everything has become waste in the world without us together. They need you. I need you… I literally can no longer function without you, but also my soul cannot breathe without your love, and your ATP and electrons. My CO2 cannot do it alone. It takes two to tango, and it takes two to make sweet, sweet glucose. I know it’s hard. You being in the thylakoid membrane and me in the stroma, but baby, nothing can keep me from you. I worry that you aren’t returning my phone calls because you think I am undergoing photosynthesis with someone else. I’d have to be crazy! Lunatic! To do that with someone else, when I already have the best reaction in the whole chloroplast! In the whole plant! In the whole Universe! You may not need me to produce O2 for cellular respiration, but sweetie, if you want some sugar you need me. We will always need each other and I wouldn’t have it any other way. They way you use light energy and water to produce 02, ATP and electrons would send shivers down my spine if I had one. The chemistry between us when your electrons and ATP meet with my CO2 was magical. Sparks flew! And I know you felt it too, so come back to me, honey! I need you!
Yours truly,
Calvin
